I had a port there for 6 years (one year longer than normal but it have constant blockages in the final year). After removing it i suffered a thrombosis of the SVC due to the tube rubbing the vein and causing damage. It was 2cm x 3cm. We started warfarin and struggled with my INR so i demanded that I be switched to Rivaroxaban and the clot healed. I’m now running out of peripheral veins to the point that an ultrasound guided cannulation caused my hand to go number and blood backed up in my arm because my veins are literally shit. The back up cause a migraine during IV antibiotics and I had constant nausea for 2 weeks. I need another port but i only need IVABs yearly so doctors wont allow me to get one.
